  • President Joe Biden announced yesterday that he wants a closer review of what started the Covid-19 pandemic. He wants a full report of whether it came from human contact with an infected animal or from a laboratory accident."
  • Over 1.2 million stimulus checks still haven’t been cashed. These people either refused to accept the check, paid back the check, or simply didn’t cash the check they received. California has the most outstanding stimulus checks followed by Florida, Texas, and New York.  Meanwhile politicians are calling for a fourth and fifth round of stimulus checks. However, even though they are trying doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. Meanwhile, lots of employers are struggling to hire people. From restaurants to hotels to factories and construction companies are struggling to find enough workers to catch up with the demand.

  • Diapers, paper towels, and toilet paper will cost more starting next month! The price increase is due to the rising raw material costs needed to make the products. Other things have gone up too like Jennie-O turkey products because of higher grain costs. Jif peanut butter has gone up! And coca cola said they will probably raise their prices very soon!
  • Disneyland will begin allowing out-of-state visitors to buy tickets and visit starting June 15. Since the parks reopened earlier this year, only Californians were allowed to visit the theme parks. Visitors will still have to wear face coverings during their visit

  • Nine people have died after the mass shooting that happened in San Jose yesterday at the rail yard.   The 57 year old male shooter set his own home on fire prior to the shooting spree and then died due to a self inflicted gunshot. He was an employee at the rail yard, where he opened fire.  The Mayor said that all the victims and all the colleagues knew the shooter well. President Joe Biden said, "There are at least eight families who will never be whole again. There are children, parents, and spouses who are waiting to hear whether someone they love is ever going to come home. There are union brothers and sisters – good, honest, hardworking people – who are mourning their own."
  • This Memorial Day weekend is expected to be a big one as COVID restrictions have eased across Southern California. 2.9 million residents of Southern California are expected to travel this holiday weekend. Travel will be up 64% from last year. Hot spots for Californians are national parks, and about 90% will be traveling by car. But be prepared to pay pre-COVID rental car rates and even more money for gas. And LOTS of people are coming to San Diego from out of town and lots of San Diegans are doing staycastions. Most hotels and resorts are already booked this weekend.
