  • Covid cases in San Diego County hit a two month low yesterday. Health officials logged 10 new deaths and 926 new cases making it the firsttime since Nov. 30 that fewer than 1,000 new cases were reported. Hospitalizations overall are continuing to decline also. The county has received more than 525,600 vaccines, and more than 343,400 have been administered.
  • San Diego State has been approved by the state to start vaccinating faculty, staff, and students. The school will begin giving vaccines this week to people on campus who fall within the current phases.  Currently, California has only approved Phase 1A (healthcare workers and congregate living facility residents) and the first tier of Phase 1B (individuals 65 and older and those in education and childcare, emergency services, and food and agriculture sectors) to receive the coronavirus vaccine.
  •  Meanwhile, San Diego Unified School district is pushing to get the vaccines for their teachers and staff. The school board says to get the economy going again, kids must get back to school, which requires teachers get vaccinated to protect them from the virus.
