- District leaders announced yesterday that students in the Sweetwater Union High School District will continue distance learning through the end of the year. This decision comes as we are on the cusp of slipping back into the purple tier, which will have more restrictions. The district said, “Although we will remain in distance learning, we are committed to continuing to find ways that we can provide in-person services to some of our highest needs students. Staff will be reaching out to these families directly as more information becomes available.”
- Today is National Voter Registration Day. Early voting is opening up in some state and mail-in ballots are being distributed to registered voters who have requested them. - Will you be going trick or treating this year?? According to a new survey, 25 Percent of US Residents say they're going Trick-Or-Treating Despite the Pandemic. However, will they get any candy? Because according to a separate survey, only 35 percent of Americans said they plan on buying Halloween candy to hand out. Lots of cities are debating whether or not to allow Trick or treating. Chicago and Springfield, Massachusetts have already canceled it while the mayor of LA has strongly discouraged it. No word about San Diego yet.
- The Valley fire which broke out on Sept 5th, is now 95% contained. It’s burned just over 17,000 acres and burned through 30 residences, 31 outbuildings, and 11 other structures.
