- San Diego County could backslide as COVID-19 case rate rises. Right now, the case rate is 7.9 new daily cases per 100,000 should we have a case rate higher than 7.0 next week we could be moved into the purple tier, so what would this mean? Retail stores will have to lower to 25% capacity indoors, from 50% capacity. Restaurants must move to outdoor dining only. Shopping centers will move to 25% capacity with closed common areas and a closed food court. Personal care businesses must move to outdoor operations after working indoors with modifications. Museums, zoos and aquariums will go to outdoors only. Places of worship and movie theaters will be held outdoors only. Gyms and fitness centers will also have to go outdoors only. Meanwhile, San Diego County asked the state to not count SDSU virus cases toward more restrictions. The vote was unanimous however Governor Gavin Newsom firmly opposed the idea saying, “The answer is no.”
- All 26 elementary schools in Poway Unified School District are slated to reopen for half days of in person learning starting next month. The first 10 elementaries are scheduled to reopen campuses Oct. 1 to. Students in 16 other elementary schools will join them in reopening Oct. 12. Elementary families who elected for their students to continue virtual learning “will remain fully virtual.”
