The storm system that's hammering California is not only causing extensive damage, it's also providing epic surf conditions.
Film director and surfer, Owen Dubeck filmed a wave that he says is bigger than anything he's seen in SoCal. The footage was shot on January 6, 2023 at Black's Beach in San Diego County and shows two surfers wiping out on an absolutely massive wave. Dubeck told The Intertia that he was on the beach after catching a few waves, “Then this wave came through, which felt like it was about twice the size of everything else.”
As someone who surfs and films surfing, Dubeck was surprised by the size of the wave, adding "Never seen anything like this anywhere near SoCal. I surfed a big day at Uluwatu (Indonesia) this year and looking at the footage, this may have been bigger.”
