Stacker has released a list of the "best of the best" museums in California and the list may surprise you.
The list was based on displays, ideas, and a sense of appreciation of those who visit the museums.
30 museums made the list with the Getty Center taking the lead at #1.
But 4 museums on that list are right here in San Diego.
At # 2 - The USS Midway Museum.
#9 is the Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside.
The Craftsmanship Museum in Carlsbad came in at #20.
And The Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad took #27.
