The Encinitas City Council will decide whether to expand the city’s smoking ban to cover sidewalks and parked vehicles.
Currently, the ban applies to beaches, city parks, trails and outdoor dining areas at restaurants.
Environmental organizations and youth health advocates have lobbied the council to broaden the no-smoking-ban.
They say it'll reduce cigarette butt litter and discourage kids from lighting up.
The City Council will consider the ban at tonight's meeting at 6pm.
