Here's How Much You Have To Make To Be "Middle Class" In San Diego

As the cost of living continues to rise, the American middle class is slowly shrinking, leading to an increasing gap between the wealthy and the poor.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median income in 2021 was $70,784.

So American families earning between $47,189 and $141,568 are technically in the middle class.

The middle class range in San Diego, Chula Vista and Carlsbad is $61,000 to $182,000.

Los Angeles, Long Beach and Anaheim's middle class falls between $55,000 and $165,000.

California’s Inland Empire region of Riverside, San Bernardino and Ontario ranges between $51,000 and $154,000.

The Bay Area of San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley shows families making between $77,000 and $232,000 are considered middle class.
