Three humpback whales got up close and personal with a group of people on a whale watching tour.
Monterey Bay Whale Watch posted a drone video to Instagram, with the caption “An amazing day spent with 3 incredibly friendly humpback whales on our AM and PM trips!, Sometimes whales express curiosity towards our boat and boy do we feel lucky when they choose to do so.”
The company said this was a rare encounter because the boat was stopped and the whales approached the vessel on their own.
One tourist came within inches of one of the great beasts, but it ultimately did not make contact with the boat or anyone aboard.
