A Mexican Fruit Fly quarantine is declared in North County San Diego.
The quarantine covers 77-square-miles in the Valley Center area.
The California Department of Food and Agriculture says it's already detected the Mexican Fruit Fly and it can decimate California's crops.
It can infect more than 50 types of fruit, including citrus, avocados, and tropical fruit.
The CDFA says whether you're growing commercially or just at home, do not move the fruit off your property, consume it right there.
