Over 20 million California residents will receive the Middle Class Tax Refund, similar to a tax refund in what the State is calling "inflation relief" payments.
The size of your payment depends on your income (as stated on your 2020 tax return), filing status and number of dependents, as shown below. The payments will be anywhere from $200 to $1,050 - see chart below.
Tax filers with individual income greater than $250,000 or joint filer/head of household income greater than $500,000 do NOT qualify for this tax refund.
The Franchise Tax Board stated that payments will be sent out via direct deposit and debit cards starting in October of this year.
