The quakes struck Baja California within 20 minutes of eachother on Monday morning, the second was almost twice as strong as the first.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) resports that the both earthquakes struck near El Sauzal, roughly 60 miles south of the U.S. - Mexico border. The first quake hit at 4:09 a.m. and registered with a preliminary magnitude of 2.5, while the second hit at 4:21 a.m. with a preliminary magnitude of 4.3.
There have been no reports of structural damage or injuries related to the El Sauzal earthquakes.
A 4.3 magnitude quake struck the Guadalupe region of Baja California this morning as well.
