People in San Diego and across Southern California saw a meteor light up the skies with a fireball on Friday night.
Fox 5 San Diego says the meteor burned particularly bright after entering the Earth’s atmosphere.
The American Meteor Society registered dozens of reports on the fireball in San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties just after 10:00 PM.
Jorden Abarca caught the event on camera as he drove home in the Harbison Canyon area of East County, showing the fireball appearing in the sky.
The Meteor Society says fireballs are quite common, with hundreds occurring around the world each day, but clear sightings are rare, given that so many happen during the day, in remote areas or after people go to bed.
