25-year-old Alexis Mercedes Boberg, a substitute teacher at North County High School in Anne Arundel County, Baltimore, Maryland, surrendered herself to authorities after she was accused of having sex with and giving alcohol to a student.
She was charged with 2 counts of a 4th-degree sex offense and 1 count of drinking alcohol on public property.
Authorities were tipped off by a male student (name hidden since he's a minor) on June 4 after he explained that they had exchanged phone numbers back in May, engaged in sex and that she had given him alcohol. Both the student and teacher would meet several times outside of school, though it is unclear where exactly. Authorities later searched Boberg's home and found sufficient evidence.
A 4th-degree sex offense can carry a year jail sentence if convicted. Boberg will also be registered as a sex offender.
