A San Diego family was expecting a relative from Texas who was on her way to San Diego for a funeral
Ariel Llerenas, 27, a mother of 2 (7 and 5 years old), was on her way to San Diego from Watauga, Texas to attend the funeral of her cousin Jasmine who had passed away from a heart attack.
As they were passing through Deming, New Mexico on the I-10 around 4 AM, her boyfriend fell asleep at the wheel and crashed the SUV which Ariel was a front-seat passenger. The car overturned after it swerved on the road, later pinning Ariel under the car. Ariel's sister, Priscilla Chavira, 15, survived the crash and tried to put out the car fire with a t-shirt.
A GoFundMe account has been set up for her funeral expenses.
