Utah Woman Arrested for Smuggling Baby Out of Philippines

Jennifer Erin Talbot, 42, of Sandy, Utah, was seen hiding a 6-day-old baby boy in a large carry-on while going through Ninoy Aquino International Airport on her way back to the United States.

She managed to make it past airport security in Manila but was stopped at the Delta Airlines gate before getting on the plane. Airport personnel had noticed the baby during an X-ray.

Talbot told Manila authorities that she was the child's aunt but had no documents to prove it. It turns out, Talbot had gotten the baby from a Davao City teenage mom, Maricris Cempron Dulap, who she originally met online. The baby's biological father is currently on the run.

Talbot is a married mother with 5 children, 2 of which is biological.

Talbot was charged by the National Bureau of Investigation with human trafficking, child abuse, and kidnapping, and is looking at a life sentence along with a fine between $38,500 to $96,200 if found guilty.
