Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have a genealogical connection through her father
It turns out Meghan Markle, who was born in California, is actually distantly related to Prince Harry by a common ancestor through Meghan's father, Thomas. They're distant cousins.
Meghan's father Thomas and Prince Harry's great-grandmother, the Queen Mother, share a common ancestor from the 15th century, Ralph Bowes, who was a High Sheriff of County Durham in England.
Ralph Bowes' granddaughter Bridget Bowes married John Hussey. It was their grandson, Christopher Hussey who immigrated to an area in Massachusetts in 1632.
Ralph Bowes had another grandchild named George Bowes. It turns out HE was a relative of Elizabeth Bowes Lyon who ended up marrying George VI, who later went on to become THE Queen Mother, Queen Elizebeth II's mother.
Thankfully, that means that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are very distantly related... like 15th cousins.
Today, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced that they are expecting their first baby.
