Nicodemo Baggetta, 30, a special education teacher at Fell Charter School, and wife Ruth, 39, a music teacher at Lake High School were both convicted of sexually abusing a student more than 20 times from the age of 16 over the period of 2 years in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
They were both convicted of institutional sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of a minor and furnishing alcohol to minors and could face more than 22 years in prison.
Nicodemo and Ruth were newly engaged when the abuse had started between the couple and the teen. Ruth had even approved her husband's abuse of the student because she wanted him to 'get it out of his system' before they got married, and would eventually join in later down the line. The abuse ended around December of 2017 and the couple was later arrested by authorities in March of 2018 after the student told a therapist.
