Florida Mom Faces Life In Prison for Killing Daughter's Alleged Molester

Connie Serbu, Xavier Sierra

Mother of 2, Connie Serbu, 43, of East Naples, Florida, admitted to killing Xavier Sierra, 18, because she claimed that he had molested her daughter back in 2016 when she was 6-years-old and he was 12.

In July 2016, Serbu, who was upset after a babysitter had told her that Sierra had allegedly molested her 6-year-old daughter (years earlier) inappropriately, told her husband the she was going to run an errand. She instead went with her brother John Vargas, 29, to go and confront Sierra. She had lured Sierra by telling him on Facebook messenger that he could make some 'easy money' if he agreed to be picked up in her Hyundai around 3 PM that day to help assemble a bunk bed.

During the ride, the duo confronts Sierra while driving on route to a rural area around the 700 block of Goodlette Road North. Sierra was able to make an escape from the vehicle, but after a short chase on foot, Vargas caught up with Sierra and the two had a tussle. Sierra was able to get one of the handguns from Vargas and fatally shoot him in the stomach. That was when Serbu pulled out her gun and fatally shot Sierra in the chest before calling the police to report herself.

When authorities showed up to the scene, she admitted to killing Sierra and said, 'I don't care, he raped my daughter... she told me everything that happened.' Authorities found 2 handguns, stun guns, duct tape, a potato (to use as a silencer), and an ice pick in Serbu's possession.

After a 1-week trial, Connie Serbu was found guilty of 2nd-degree murder where she could face up to life in prison. She will be formally sentenced on January 3, 2020.
