The Best Burrito in San Diego

The best burritos in San Diego

If you live in San Diego, you know how spoiled we are when it comes to good Mexican food in the city... particularly, burritos. They're great whether you eat them with a knife and fork (wet) or using only your hands (dry). Burritos come in many varieties: beef, pork, chicken, fish, and even vegetarian. With so many Mexican restaurant choices, where do you even begin?

Here are some of my favorite Mexican food restaurants with the best burritos, listed in no particular order. (They're ALL GOOD)

JV's Taco Shop

They've got a huge selection of burritos and their salsa bar is on point. Their burritos are ALSO on point. They're huge... and you can probably get away with splitting them into two different meals.

Harvest Taco Shop

They've got great carnitas and tacos here. But their burritos, free tortilla chips, and excellent salsa bar steal the show.

La Fuente Mexican Food

Their Surf-n-Turf burrito is to die for. They also have a giant salsa bar with 6 different types of salsas as well as carrots and cucumbers.

Lupe's Mexican Eatery

They've got some modern twists on their burritos along with more traditional dishes. Their Lupe Fries are something you'd wanna take a pic of and post on Instagram, but their burritos are delicious!

Lucha Libre Gourmet Taco Shop

Lucha Libre means "Free Fighting" in Spanish and yes, they are themed after the art of Mexican Wrestling with lots of luchador pics around their restaurant. Aside from the decor, their burritos are different and have a unique flair about them. Some of them come with their own special in-house sauces.

California Burritos

They've been around since 2006 and make great Mexican food at great prices. Their chips and salsas are made fresh each day and they have really good hot sauces. But their name says it all, their burritos are on point.

El Zarape

Aside from the great selection of Mexican beers, they've also got great Mexican food. Particularly, burritos.

Lolita’s Mexican Food

They've got a few locations around San Diego and have been around since 1984. They've got great beverage choices and really excellent burritos. Their guacamole, or "guac" as we like to call it around here, is really fresh.

Sayulitas Mexican Food

If you like Mexican Food and Filipino Food, you're gonna love Sayulitas. They've got some unique fusion burritos like tocino burritos, spamsilog burritos, longanisa burritos, bacon wrapped carne asada burritos and more. Their staff is extremely friendly and their portions are generous to say the least.

Santa Ana Fresh Mexican Food

They've got an awesome San Felipe burrito and their breakfast burritos are enough for 2 meals.

Trujillo's Taco Shop

They've got great beer, food, and even a jukebox. But their burritos are on point! They've also got crunch wraps and unique renditions of your traditional burritos. Go there, you'll see what I'm talking about.

La Perla Cocina Mexicana

They've got a King Kong burrito and it's GOOD.

Tocaya Organica

Their ingredients are really fresh and their burritos are really BOLD. They also offer vegan and gluten-free options on their menu.

Ortiz’s Taco Shop

Aside from their great tacos, their burritos are also good. I like their red and green salsas as well.

Sombrero Mexican Food

Their chorizo and California burritos are amazing. Their breakfast burritos are also AMAZING.

There are way too many Mexican taco shops to list here. Honestly, if you happen to stumble upon any taco shops in San Diego, chances are, you can't go wrong.  The Mexican food here in San Diego is bar none... the best in the world. (Yeah, I said it.)

Did we miss any? Tell us in the comments and we'll add it to this list!
