Brooke Skylar Richardson, who was 18 at the time of the crime, now 20, described how she buried her baby (Annabelle) in her parents' backyard on May 7, 2017 after prom.
Brooke, a former cheerleader at Carlisle High School, confessed to a gynecologist about giving birth to a baby while visiting to get birth control pills. She was later reported to the local authorities. Brooke told authorities that she had just found out about being pregnant 11 days before the birth.
During a police confession, Brooke originally describes what had happened after giving birth to the baby on the toilet in the middle of the night and hearing the baby 'gurgle' after she had 'squeezed the baby too hard.'
Brooke claimed that the baby was born dead while her parents were asleep. She also said that the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby's neck when she was born. Her attorney believes that her comments in the interview video were coerced and that she had said those things because she thought at the time that it would help with her case. Her attorney also claims that it would be impossible for her to set the baby body on fire because its vertebrae would've shown signs of burning. The pathologist later confirmed that the bones didn't have any marks conclusive with burning.
After authorities had interviewed her, Brooke's parents entered the interview room and are seen (below) asking bout the baby and what had happened. Brooke's father asked about the baby before she replied, "I tried to cremate the baby just a little.'
Her father replied, 'You tried to cremate the baby!?' ...You delivered a live baby is what you're saying?'
'Yeah, I... I wasn't sure.'
Prosecutors believe that Brooke tried to hide the baby from everyone by killing her. They believe that a selfie pic taken at the gym of her slimmed-down post-baby bump prove that she didn't really care about the baby.
Brooke Richardson is on trial for involuntary manslaughter, murder, gross abuse of a corpse, child endangerment, and tampering with evidence.
