San Diego will celebrate America's Independence with a variety of events and festivities in 2022. When you're ready to watch fireworks you'll have 20 different locations to chose from this year.
Fireworks start at 9pm unless otherwise noted.
Three locations will conduct their fireworks location prior to the 4th: Mission Bay on July 3; National City on July 2; and Oceanside on July 3.
CAMP PENDLETON - Del Mar Beach
This fireworks show will take place at Del Mar Beach which is part of the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base. Anyone with active military I.D. is welcome to attend. Fireworks will begin at 9pm.This fireworks show will be synchronized to a custom music soundtrack heard only on Star 94.1 FM.
CARLSBAD - Legoland California
Red, White & BOOM! Don't miss Fireworks set to a patriotic musical tribute with great viewing in designated locations throughout the Park. During the day, kids of all ages can enjoy performances and meet their favorite LEGO Characters! Activities are included in the cost of admission to LEGOLAND California. Visit their website.
CHULA VISTA - Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center
Chula Vista 4th Fest! Gates to the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center (CVEATC) open at 7pm with fireworks beginning at 9pm. The Center is located at 2800 Olympic Parkway, Chula Vista, CA. The event is free, open to the public, and all ages. No alcohol allowed on the CVEATC campus - vehicles and pedestrians will be searched upon entry.
NOTE: the center’s parking lot only has 400 parking spots on CVEATC campus. Parking is also available at New Hope Church, 2720 Olympic Parkway, Chula Vista, CA 91915.
CORONADO – Over Glorietta Bay
The city of Coronado will hold their annual fireworks display over Glorietta Bay near Stingray Point. The best place to watch is from the Coronado Municipal Golf Course with viewing throughout the island and across the harbor. A full day of festivities will take place in Coronado on July 4. EL CAJON - Kennedy Park
The City of El Cajon will host fireworks on July 4th at 9:00 pm. Fireworks will be visible from Kennedy Park on 1675 East Madison Avenue, El Cajon, CA 92019 AND the surrounding area.
ESCONDIDO – Grape Day Park / CA Center for the Arts
Escondido’s annual 4th of July concert and fireworks display returns! In addition to fireworks, the day’s activities include a concert on the Great Green in Grape Day Park with country music star Lorrie Morgan followed by the Third Marine Aircraft Wing Band, concluding with a dazzling fireworks display. Children can enjoy face painters along with craft activities and games. Food and merchant vendors will set up in the park and food trucks will line up along Broadway Avenue.

DEL MAR - San Diego County Fair
On Independence Day, the best seats in the house for the Fair’s Fireworks Extravaganza are in the Grandstand. Guarantee your spot by reserving a seat in advance. All seats reservation tickets include same-day admission to the San Diego County Fair. Fireworks start at 9pm and tickets can be purchased HERE.
IMPERIAL BEACH – Pier Plaza (This is now a DRONE Show!)
Imperial Beach has opted to for a high-tech drone light show that will be visible from Pier Plaza. The show will kick off in Pier Plaza at 7:30 p.m. with a performance from Marine Band San Diego and the drone light show by Verge Aero to follow shortly after dark. Pier Plaza, 940 Seacoast Drive, Imperial Beach, CA.
Seacoast Drive will be open for bus access, but parking will not be available at any time from Palm Avenue to Imperial Beach Blvd, according to officials. There is a bus stop in Pier Plaza for the easiest access to the show for those not quite within walking distance.
LA MESA – Lake Murray
A day of celebration awaits at Lake Murray, with a music-fest beginning at 11am and fireworks scheduled for 9pm. The music fest is held at Lake Murray Community Park in San Carlos and the fireworks can be seen throughout the Navajo community, from La Mesa to Del Cerro and beyond. Visit their website.
* MISSION BAY – Crown Point Bridge / Mission Bay Yacht Club (This display is on July 3)
Enjoy the long-awaited return of the Mission Bay holiday fireworks show, which has been on hiatus since 2012. This show will be visible on the Bay at 9 p.m. on Sunday, July 3, 2022.
MISSION BAY - SeaWorld San Diego
SeaWorld’s Fireworks Spectacular will light up the bay on July 4th. The park will be open from 9:00am to 10:00pm - fireworks begin 15 minutes before closing time. Each night SeaWorld features Ignite Fireworks: surf the wave to a whole new level with Ignite, a fireworks spectacular that brings the brilliant colors of the sea to the skies above the park. * NATIONAL CITY – Kimball Park (This display is on July 2)
A day of activities is planned on July 2nd at National City’s Kimball Park. Fireworks will start at 9pm following the Miss National City Educational Pageant which begins at 7pm. Kimball Park is located at 12th and D streets in National City, CA.
* OCEANSIDE - El Corazon Park (This display is on July 3)
The city of Oceanside will celebrate its 134th anniversary with an event and a fireworks display on Sunday, July 3 at the SoCal Soccer Complex at El Corazon. Fireworks will begin at 9:00 p.m. There will be food available onsite beginning at 5:30 p.m. This year's event will feature live entertainment, a family fun zone with inflatables, a picnic area, and food vendors.
POWAY – Poway High School
The City of Poway will hold its annual Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration from 10:00am to 4:00pm at Old Poway Park. Bring your family and friends to Old Poway Park and celebrate our country’s independence “turn-of-the-20th-century-style”. This event will feature patriotic entertainment, western re-enactors, free children's crafts, train displays, and old-fashioned games. Tasty treats and train rides will be available for a nominal fee.
At 11:00am the VFW Post 7907 and the Poway Veterans Park Committee will conduct a ceremony to honor those who selflessly served our country. Visit their website.
Enjoy spectacular fireworks as they light up the sky over Poway High School Stadium. A ticketed event will take place on school grounds that includes games, activities, and a DJ spinning the tunes. RAMONA - Olive Pierce Middle School
The Ramona Chamber of Commerce is has organized this year’s July 4th celebration, celebrating Independence Day and Strength in Community, will be held on the back field behind Olive Peirce Middle School 1521 Hanson Lane, Ramona, CA starting at 4:00 pm with fireworks at 9:00 pm. Bring your chairs & blankets and settle in for a fun time! This fireworks show will be synchronized to a custom music soundtrack heard only on Star 94.1 FM and the iHeartRadio App.
RANCHO BERNARDO - Rancho Bernardo High School Complex
Rancho Bernardo's lavish fireworks display begins at 9 p.m. The fireworks ends with a Grand Finale display of nearly 400 high altitude shells. This event should not be missed.
Seating is on the grass and it is suggested that those attending bring blankets or lawn chairs. A donation of $10 per person or $20 for a family is requested at the entrance of the event to support the Fireworks Show. Spirit of the Fourth Celebration hats, t-shirts and blankets are also available for an additional $20 donation. There is reserved seating and parking for Freedom Club members. Parking is free in the student parking lot off Avenida Venusto. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase at the event. San Diego’s BIG BAY BOOM - San Diego Bay
The county's largest July 4th fireworks show is visible throughout downtown San Diego, Harbor Island, parts of Shelter Island, and Coronado. The Big Bay Boom fireworks show is displayed from four barges on San Diego Bay at 9:00pm. Bring your lawn chairs, friends and boats to watch from these locations: Shelter Island, Harbor Island, North Embarcadero, Marina District, Coronado Ferry Landing, and Boating/On The Water. This fireworks display is synchronized to a custom music soundtrack that will air exclusively on 101.5 KGB-FM and the iHeartRadio App.
SAN MARCOS – Bradley Park
San Marcos hosts one of the most spirited 4th of July Celebrations in North County. This year's festivities will include carnival games, jumpers and food sales on-site. Guests should plan to bring beach chairs or blankets for lawn seating. The fireworks display will be viewable from Bradley Park in San Marcos beginning at 9pm. SANTEE - Town Center Park East
The City of Santee will conduct their annual Santee Salutes the 4th of July event, which will include fireworks. Activities include food vendors, a patriot ceremony, an 80s theme concert, and dual fireworks display launched from Town Center Community Park and West Hills Park (this park is closed to the public buy fireworks will be visible all around it). VISTA - Brengle Terrace Park
The City of Vista will conduct their annual Independence Day Celebration, (featuring a fireworks display at 9pm) at Brengle Terrace Park on 1200 Vale Terrace Drive, Vista on July 4, 2022. Festivities for this ticketed event include a fun-filled BBQ dinner at 6:30pm and a concert featuring DecaDames in the Moonlight Amphitheatre prior to the fireworks.
