The "Momo Challenge” has resurfaced and is making its rounds on the Internet
An online "challenge" that originally started in 2018 which encourages young children to commit self-harm and suicide has resurfaced on WhatsApp and in online videos.
The Momo challenge features a creepy character named Momo with black hair over a bird's body instructs players to engage in different levels of acts. Players are asked to provide photos and evidence of completing each task in order to continue the game. Players are cursed if they don't play along.
The final level in the game involves Momo telling players to end their own life and record it for the world to see.
The Momo character and challenge originally went viral around the summer of 2018 had authorities in Argentina investigating whether it was the cause of death for a 12-year-old girl in Buenos Aires.
To this day, it has not been proven that this challenge has actually been the main cause of any suicides.
Law enforcement and schools have sent out notices warning parents to keep an eye on their children's internet and app use.
