San Diego Humane Society: Day of Giving

The San Diego Humane Society's Day of Giving - Thursday, June 27, 2019 - is a special day that unites our entire community to celebrate our shared compassion for animals in need. DONATE NOW to help save animals lives. Here are just some of the stories on how your gift can make a difference.

1: Harriet

Harriet was just a day old when she was found orphaned and brought to San Diego Humane Society’s Kitten Nursery. Each year, the Nursery gives thousands of kittens the around-the-clock care the need to survive. Donate for Day of Giving and your gift will be doubled to save twice as many kittens like Harriet.

2. Carrot

When Carrot was a puppy, he was found in heartbreaking condition. He was alone in a creek, severely sick and malnourished. He almost didn’t survive. But at San Diego Humane Society, he got the extensive medical care and love he needed to heal – and find a new home. Donate for Day of Giving and your gift will be matched to give twice as many animals like Carrot a second chance.

3. Coconut

When humane law enforcement officers got a call about a thin horse, they found Coconut – a victim of extreme neglect. But in four months at San Diego Humane Society, she transformed. She gained weight, regained her spirit and, eventually, found a new home. Donate for Day of Giving and your gift will be doubled to save twice as many animals like Coconut.

4. Chico

Chico came to San Diego Humane Society with a huge list of medical needs – a broken leg, fractured teeth, an ear infection and more. Thankfully, San Diego Humane Society is able to go above and beyond for animals in need. Chico received the care he needed – and then he was adopted! Donate for Day of Giving and your gift will be doubled, meaning twice as many animals like Chico will get a second chance.

5. Nova

When you support Day of Giving, you’ll help rescue dogs like Nova from lives of cruelty and neglect. Humane law enforcement officers found Nova emaciated and chained to a stake without food, water or shelter. Thanks to San Diego Humane Society, she got the second chance she deserved. It took 138 days to help her heal, but today she’s thriving in her new home. Donate today and your gift will be doubled!

6. Buddy Love

Buddy Love is a 12-year-old cat living with diabetes. He spent seven months at San Diego Humane Society waiting for a special family willing to take on his medical needs. Thanks to community support, he received the daily injections of insulin he needed, along with plenty of love. Donate for Day of Giving and your gift will be matched to help twice as many animals like Buddy Love get a second chance!

7. Lab Puppies

When nine puppies were found abandoned in an emptied dog food bag in Escondido, San Diego Humane Society saved their lives. The puppies were cold and dehydrated – but they received immediate medical attention and around-the-clock-care. Today, they are healthy and have all been adopted, but many animals just like them will need help this year. Donate for Day of Giving and your gift will be matched to rescue twice as many animals in need.

8. Ariel

Ariel is a sweet miniature poodle who was pulled from the ocean by a good Samaritan who saw her struggling to stay above water. San Diego Humane Society gave her the medical care she needed – and then helped her find a new home. Today, she’s living with a family that will keep her warm and dry! Donate for Day of Giving and your gift will be doubled to save twice as many animals like Ariel.

9. Drama

Drama’s story is filled with…drama. This sweet kitten was found in a car engine with a fractured leg and tail. At San Diego Humane Society, she had the lifesaving surgery she needed. Drama was placed in a foster home while she recovered and was ready to find a family of her own. Donate for Day of Giving and your gift will be doubled to save twice as many animals like Drama.

10. Alfie

Alfie was found abandoned, anemic and covered in fleas behind the dumpster of a local apartment complex. But San Diego Humane Society changed his life. They helped him get the blood transfusion he needed, and then stood by his side as he healed. Today, he’s living with his new family! Donate during Day of Giving and your gift will be doubled to provide lifesaving care for twice as many animals like Alfie.
