Uber, Lyft, and several restaurants are offering free or discounts to voters today
It's voting day! A day when millions of Americans will participate in this very important democratic process and will need food and travel to get to and from polling sites.
According to a Lyft blog post, there was an estimated 15 million people who were registered to vote, but didn't in 2016 because of transportation issues.
Before you take part in these goodies, make sure to get out and vote today at the San Diego polling station nearest to you.
These ride-share services are doing their part to help voters get from A to B today.
- Lyft is offering 50% off codes through Vote.org and other voting nonprofits.
- Uber is offering $10 discounts for voters and is helping people find their precincts with in-app directions.
- Lime: Enter code LIME2VOTE18 to unlock the Lime fleet of shared bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters for a free ride to and from polling locations, up to 30 minutes.
- Zipcar: Take a Zipcar on election night between 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday and get $20 off a future trip.
Hungry? These restaurants have a little something special for voters today.
- Boston Market: Buy a pot pie and drink and get a free pot pie Tuesday at participating locations with a coupon posted at www.bostonmarket.com.
- Rubio’s Coastal Grill: Get an Original Fish Taco paired with any Mexican or craft beer for $5 or choose an à la carte option such as a $2 Fish Taco Especial or a $1.75 Original Fish Taco Tuesday.
- Jersey Mike's Subs: They're having a National Sandwich Day deal. With a coupon, get $2 off any regular sub. The coupon was sent to email club members and posted on their Facebook page.
- Shake Shack: Get free fries with any purchase Tuesday. Either show an “I Voted” sticker or redeem with the code “ivoted” in the chain's Shack App.
- Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop: For showing a voting sticker, get $1 off any sub Tuesday.
- Krispy Kreme: Reward members can get two dozen doughnuts for $13 with an email coupon Tuesday and Wednesday. Choose either two dozen original glazed or one dozen glazed and one dozen assorted.
- Lemonade: Show your “I Voted” sticker to the California-based chain Tuesday for a free lemonade with any purchase.
