Fire crews in San Diego County are working to contain two brushfires that broke out in the heat of Monday afternoon.
The #McCainFire is burning in the Boulevard area with evacuations ordered for these areas. Currently the acreage is more than 700 with a moderate rate of spread. The fire broke out at McCain Valley Road and Interstate 8 about 4:30pm. According to initial reports from Cal Fire, there was a vehicle fully involved with extension into the vegetation.
The U.S. Forest Service with assistance from Cal Fire is working a fire near Kitchen Creed Road in the community of Lake Morena. The #KitchenFire is at about 43 acres. Crews have reportedly made good progress on both flanks according to officials with the Cleveland National Forest.
Crews made quick work of a fire earlier in the afternoon on San Miguel Rd. in the Bonita area. The #BonitaFire was stopped at 7 acres.
