Chula Vista Couple's Recovery Fund

A man confronted his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend Monday in the parking lot of a Costco in Chula Vista, shot them both and then killed himself with the same gun, police said.

The couple was putting groceries into their car outside the warehouse store at 1130 Broadway shortly before 1 p.m., and the woman's baby was in a stroller next to them when her ex-boyfriend came up to them and began arguing, according to Chula Vista police Lt. Dan Peak. During the fight, the ex-boyfriend pulled out a handgun and shot woman and her companion several times at close range. He then shot himself.

The Valdez and Perez families were rocked when Angelina and Samuel became survivors of gun violence. The two were attacked after a domestic dispute turned for the worst. Angelina and Sam are recent parents as they welcomed a baby into this world a week prior to the incident. The baby is healthy and safe with family members as their parents recover. Angelina and Sam are currently in intensive care recovering from their wounds and will be unable to work for an unknown extended period of time.

They both have a long road to recovery ahead of them. Their families are seeking support to cover medical expenses not covered by insurance, needs for the baby, living expenses and other unforeseen costs.
