San Diego Pools Are Closing Due To Nationwide Chlorine Shortage!

A Chlorine shortage is causing some pools to close in San Diego County!

The shortage is not due to the weather nor COVID-19, but a fire in Louisiana that has shut down production of chlorine since 2020. Coronado was forced to shut their community pool because of a lack of chlorine supply. Pool officials say the pool is closed until further notice. In Escondido, the superintendent of Parks and Pools says he’s been scouring all over the county to find chlorine. LEGOLAND says for now they have enough chlorine to continue to operate their pools and slides, while the El Corazon Aquatic Center in Oceanside is still set to open on August 21.Pool cleaning experts say that if one pool shuts down that means other pools are also in danger of being closed.

While the Magic Key holder can only hold a certain number of reservations at a given time, they can make another after one is used.

But like the old Flex Pass, the holder must cancel their reservation by 11:59 p.m. PT on the day before the reserved date if they can no longer go to the park — or risk receiving a “no show.” If the person has three “no shows” in a rolling 90-period, they won’t be able to make a new reservation for a 30-day window starting after the third one.
