Woman Who Killed Boyfriend in Failed YouTube Stunt Jailed

Monalisa Perez, 20, serves jail time for shooting her boyfriend, Pedro Ruiz, 22, in a YouTube stunt gone wrong in Halstad, Minnesota

The prank involved Monalisa shooting Pedro while he was using an encyclopedia to stop the bullet. The bullet, fired from a Desert Eagle handgun went through the book and into Pedro's chest.

When medics arrived, they failed to revive Pedro. Monalisa was pregnant with Pedro's second child.

Monalisa agreed to a plea deal and took the 180-day term of confinement where she'll spend 90 days in prison, and 90 days in house arrest.

Authorities allowed the trial to stand on the grounds that the YouTube stunt was mainly Pedro's idea to begin with.
