Why October 3 is Mean Girls Day

Mean Girls Fans come together on October 3 to remember and celebrate the classic teen comedy

But why October 3 and why wear pink?

It starts when Cady, played by Lindsay Lohan, was asked "What day is it?" by her crush, Aaron Samuels (“Queen Bee” Regina's ex, played by Rachel McAdams), during class. She replied, "October 3." And with that simple line, fans of the movie have decided that October 3 is Mean Girls Day.

Fans of the movie celebrate by sharing pics, gifs, memes on social media and wear pink, even if it's not Wednesday. Some will wear white gold hoop earrings.

Cady, was a character who had just moved to the United States after growing up in Africa. While at her new school, she soon learns about a clique called "The Plastics" comprised of A-List female students.

Mean Girls was released in 2004 and was written by comedian Tina Fey. It's also loosely based on Rosalind Wiseman's non-fiction self-help book Queen Bees and Wannabes. It has amassed a series of memorable quotes such as, "That’s why her hair is so big; it’s full of secrets." Also others like, "Don’t have sex, because you will get pregnant and die", "Boo, you wh*re!" and "I'm sorry that people are so jealous of me. But I can't help it that I'm popular."
