Daniel Hernandez (born May 8, 1996), better known as Tekashi 6ix9ine (Tekashi69), became famous for his eccentric colorful-themed look, rap music, beef with celebrities, and legal issues.
As an artist, he's had at least 10 of his singles chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2017 he released his debut single "Gummo", which went platinum by the RIAA. In 2018, 6ix9ine released his debut mixtape, Day69, which charted on the Billboard 200 album chart at #4. He later got into the Billboard top 5 with "Fefe", which featured Nicki Minaj and Murda Beatz. His debut studio album, Dummy Boy, was released this week, after being delayed because of his arrest and legal issues (which we'll talk about later).
He has a daughter named Saraiyah (born in March 2013) with Sara Molina. On November 11th, 2018, 6ix9ine allegedly assaulted Molina in the face when she confronted him about cheating with a woman named Jade.
Tekashi 6ix9ine's drama starts to stack up
6ix9ine pled guilty to having physical contact with a 13-year-old girl and later featured her in a music video back in 2015. He was charged with three counts of the offense and could face up to three years in prison and possible sex offender registration for the 2015 case. His plea bargain led to him being sentenced to 4 years probation and 1,000 hours of community service instead. He's also banned from yelling "Treyway" anywhere in public.

Back in July 2018, 6ix9ine was arrested for an incident when he choked a 16-year-old at the Galleria Mall in Houston, Texas in January of that year.
In July of 2018, 6ix9ine was beaten, robbed, and kidnapped by armed thugs in Brooklyn after filming a music video for FEFE. The robbers made off with over $750,000 in jewelry and over $30,000 in cash. He managed to break loose from the robbers' car and flagged a stranger for help.
The latest was an incident that happened on November 18, 2018, where 6ix9ine's former manager Kifano "Shotti" Jordan, and three other friends were arrested. 6ix9ine is charged with federal RICO and firearms charges and now faces up to life in prison. 6ix9ine was asked to surrender his passport, pay almost $2 million for bail, and under house arrest. The judge later denied bail and decided it was better to lock him up at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, and stated that he may still be a danger to society.
What was 6ix9ine like before the fame and tattoos?
Daniel Hernandez grew up in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York. His mother is originally from Atlixco, Puebla, Mexico and his father is of Puerto Rican American descent. He has an older brother. When he was only 13, his father was shot and died only a few steps away from his home. 6ix9ine started getting into trouble which led to being expelled from school in the 8th grade. He dropped out of school and worked various odd jobs to help his family financially. Hernandez sold drugs while working at a local Brooklyn bodega, AKA convenience store. He later did prison time at Rikers Island, met the Nine Trey Gangsters while being locked up. In 2014, Hernandez started rapping, and later released songs like "69" and "Scumlife".
How Tekashi 6ix9ine's music started to take off
6ix9ine became known for his aggressive rapping style and use of Japanese anime in his videos. This later led to him having rainbow-dyed hair and grills (teeth), and various "69" tattoos on his body. His breakout internet hit was in April 2017 when he released "Poles1469" with Ohio artist, Trippie Redd.
In November of 2017, 6ix9ine released "Gummo" which charted on the Billboard Hot 100 at #12. By March of 2018, it was certified platinum (1 million copies sold).
In May 2018, 6ix9ine lost a $5 million headphone deal and banned from ever performing at the Barclays Center after he was involved in a shooting with Casanova, another New York rapper. He went into a music hiatus shortly after the incident and didn't release another song for months.
His debut studio album, Dummy Boy, was set to be released on November 23 but was later postponed due to his legal troubles. The album was leaked on November 27, 2018 on various streaming platforms.
