Dylan is 9-year-old boy who started a lemonade stand at his home in Ocean Beach to raise money for his best friend Kal. Kal is 6-years-old and has Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. DMD is a genetic disorder causing progressive muscle degeneration and weakness, making Kal unable to keep up with kids at school and causing him to fall often. Kal was diagnosed on December 30th, 2018 through a genetic test. There is currently no cure for DMD, but there are some potential ones on the horizon. In the meantime, Kal receives stem cell treatments which are incredibly expensive, costing his family $10,000 for one treatment every three months.
Kal and his family have had to move to Northern California but that hasn't stopped Dylan from keeping his lemonade stand going. He wants to do everything he can to help Kal get the treatment he needs to get better.
