4th of July Fireworks - 2020 San Diego Locations

Much like everything else, San Diego's 4th of July festivities and fireworks will be very different in 2020. In a typical year, San Diego County residents can choose between 25+ different locations to view fireworks, but this year only four cities in the County will be offering shows. Here are the four locations along with their viewing instructions / restrictions.

Fireworks at all locations begin at 9:00 pm.

EL CAJON

The City of El Cajon will host fireworks on Saturday, July 4th at 9:00 pm. Fireworks will be set from Kennedy Park, but due to current physical distancing requirements, the park will be closed and there will be no public gathering permitted at or near the park area. For more information, please visit their website or call (619) 441-1754.

POWAY

The City of Poway is hosting two 4th of July fireworks shows, one at Poway High School and the other at Sportplex in the South Poway Business Park. Both shows begin at 9:00 pm.

There will be no viewing from Poway High School's football field as was the tradition in past years, but the city will be releasing a map of the best locations to view the fireworks on their website.

Parking permits will be available for anyone wanting to view the fireworks displays. Residents are now able to purchase parking passes, and non-residents can begin purchasing them on June 24. The cost is free for Poway residents and $10 for non-residents. There is a $1.50 transaction fee from our vendor.

Lake Poway will be open for the day (to vehicles with permits) for hiking, fishing, or simply relaxing and enjoying all the natural beauty that the park has to offer.

SANTEE

The City of Santee will conduct a virtual at-home celebration with a concert and patriotic flag ceremony followed by live fireworks. There will be two simultaneous displays which begin at 9:00 pm: due east at Town Center Community Park, and due west at West Hills Park. Both locations will be closed to the public in compliance with current health orders, but the fireworks will be very visible throughout the city. For more information, please visit their website.

VISTA

The City of Vista will conduct their annual 4th of July Celebration, (featuring a fireworks display) at Brengle Terrace Park on 1200 Vale Terrace Drive, but viewing at the park will be a ticketed event and is limited to 600 vehicles. Pedestrians will not be admitted into the park.

Tickets are $15 and are available to Vista residents exclusively until June 26, with any remaining tickets being offered to non-residents starting June 29 at 10:30am at the Recreation Office or by phone at (760) 643-5268 weekdays from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., or online at vistarecreation.com. Please review the specific regulations associated with this event.
