The historic San Diego property, which is known as "the most haunted house in America" is back open for tours.

According to FOX5, the Whaley House was closed for 18 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as a change in management.

The house has been on San Diego Avenue in Old Town since 1857. Over the last 164 years, the building has been a family home, a general store, a courthouse, a theater, and a museum.

So what makes the Whaley House so ominous?

Its chilling past goes back to a series of tragic events in which criminals like infamous thief James "Yankee Jim" Robinson were hung.

According to visitors, you can hear or see spirits on tours of the home. It's become so infamous that the house has been featured on all types of "ghost hunter" shows including shows on the SYFY and Discovery channels.

Under the new management, Old Town Trolley Tours, the Whaley House will be open for self-guided tours during the daytime and guided tours from 5:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.

You can learn more about the house and purchase tickets here.
