A San Diego resident found himself with a front-row seat to some Discovery Channel-type footage in his own backyard.
Ram Seshan was taking a garden hose to his backyard when he noticed something strange.
“I saw something that looked really weird," Seshan told Snopes.
It turned out to be a kingsnake swallowing a rattlesnake. Luckily Seshan noticed the snakes before he got too close.
“I would’ve stepped on these guys or dragged my hose over them,” he said.
Seshan made a post on Nextdoor asking for advice on what to do about the situation. People suggested he call local businesses that remove rattlesnakes.
However, none of the companies answered his calls which led him to contact the authorities.
Eventually, the fire department showed up to remove the kingsnake and the rattlesnake, which Seshan captured on video and posted to his personal Facebook page.
According to Seshan, a full-size fire truck with three firemen showed up. They were able to safely move the snakes to a box.
While it was rare for the snakes to be found near a residential garage, the kingsnake swallowing a rattlesnake is actually common in nature.
One fireman actually had knowledge of snakes and was aware of the phenomenon but had never seen it up close.
