Adele Confirms New Album Release Date

59th GRAMMY Awards - Show

Adele is dropping her new album this year!

According to video footage that surfaced over the weekend, the “Hello” singer-songwriter seemingly confirmed the release date of her next record as she was officiating a wedding between friend Laura Dockrill and Hugo White. In an audio clip, which has since been shared across social media, Adele can be heard telling guests to “expect my album in September.”

That wasn’t the only surprise Adele had in store for guests, either. Per Variety, the 31-year-old served as wedding singer for the romantic occasion, delivering a special set of songs after the ceremony including her smash hit “Rolling in the Deep” and covers of Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love,” Spice Girls’ “Spice Up Your Life,” and Candi Staton’s “Young Hearts Run Free.”

Although little is known about Adele’s new music era following 2015’s 25, the vocalist’s latest announcement corroborates previous reports of a tentative fall album release date. As the Daily Mail learned via Music Week last month, Adele’s agent and manager, Lucy and Jonathan Dickins, teased Adele’s new project would be approaching soon, saying, “the sooner the better.”

At the time, it was alleged the “Chasing Pavements” star’s fourth studio album would arrive on “November 8th,” with a single to follow by late-January — though nothing has come to fruition as of yet. What we do know of A4, so far, is that her new LP will be more “upbeat” and contain breakup tracks, likely touching on her split and impending divorce from estranged husband Simon Konecki, with whom she shares 7-year-old son Angelo. "She is definitely getting ready both mentally and physically to promote new music. It seems it will happen later this year," a source told PEOPLE in September. "She talks about last year as a very difficult year, and she's said in the past that creating new music is almost like therapy. You can tell that she is ready to share with her fans."
