$100 Bills Appeared To Be Raining From The Sky In Pennsylvania

People in Lancaster, Pennsylvania were excited when what they believed were $100 bills began falling from the sky.

"We were like, 'Oh my gosh. Our prayers have been answered. Here comes the money! Raining from the sky,'" Ally Rohland, marketing coordinator at Horizon: Empower the Orphaned, told Fox 43.

Rohland and her coworkers ran outside to scoop up the cash that was littering the sidewalk. They collected over a thousand dollars before they realized something wasn't quite right with the money.

"If you look closely, there's some marks here, and when you hold it up to the light, it obviously doesn't have the watermarks that our real bills do," Rohland's coworker, Jacob Keeler, explained.

It turns out the money was counterfeit, and police believe it may be tied to a robbery and drug deal that happened over the weekend. Authorities say they chased one of the suspects across rooftops in the area and believe he may have dropped the fake money as he tried to escape capture. The suspect, identified as Saladin Barnes, didn't get very far and was quickly apprehended by officers.

Officials say Barnes and another man, identified as Darien Springer, robbed a man and a woman and stole their car during a drug deal gone wrong. They were both charged with robbery of a motor vehicle and receiving stolen property. Barnes was also charged with illegal possession of a firearm and carrying a firearm without a license, while Springer was hit with charges of fleeing and driving under suspension.
