Mac Miller's Mom Reacts To Late Rapper's First Grammy Nomination

Mac Miller is officially a Grammy-nominated artist.

Exactly three months after his death, it was announced that late rapper earned his first-ever Grammy nomination in the best rap album category for his fifth studio album Swimming. The August released project is up against Cardi B‘s Invasion of Privacy, Nipsey Hussle’s Victory Lap, Pusha T’s Daytona and Travis Scott’s Astroworld

Mac's mom, Karen Meyers, reacted to the news on Instagram Friday (December 7), sharing a screenshot of the Recording Academy’s announcement Tweet that listed Mac and his fellow best rap album nominees. Karen captioned the post with angel, prayer hand, and heart emojis.

Mac, whose real name was Malcolm McCormick, died of an accidental drug overdose on September 7. Since his death, hundreds of celebrities have honored his memory in a number of ways. On Halloween, Mac's closest friends, fellow artists, and family gathered for a night of music, celebration and remembrance to raise funds for his posthumous youth arts and community-building program, The Mac Miller Circle Fund, for an event they titled The Mac Miller: A Celebration of Life concert. The concert featured performances by Travis Scott, Ty Dolla $ign, John Mayer, Miguel, Chance the Rapper, SZA, ScHoolboy Q, Anderson .Paak, and more. 

Last month, Mac's fans uncovered a secret Instagram of his. The "Self Care" rapper somehow managed to keep a public IG account that was all about his love for vaping, under the name Lars, hidden. Now Lars was just a guy just looking to inspire the world one vaping post at a time. Mac brought him to life on a secret Instagram accounted titled @cloudywithachanceofawesome69. The account is dedicated to vaping and vaping only, and it features Mac, sorry, Lars showing off his vaping skills.
