John Legend To Kanye West: 'So Many People Who Love You Feel So Betrayed'

After Kanye West reignited his bromance with President Donald Trump on Twitter, John Legend was quick to respond to the rapper's endorsement without actually calling him out. Always observant of the attention that he receives, Ye' took to the platform afterward to share the private text exchange he had with the star, causing even more chaos on the Twitterverse.

"Hey it's JL. I hope you’ll reconsider aligning yourself with Trump. You're way too powerful and influential to endorse who he is and what he stands for," Legend blatantly told the rapper in the text thread, which was witness to West's 27.9 million followers. "As you know, what you say really means something to your fans. They are loyal to you and respect your opinion. So many people who love you feel so betrayed right now because they know the harm that Trump’s policies cause, especially to people of color. Don’t let this be part of your legacy. You’re the greatest artist of our generation."

It's predominately laced with kindness, but West took Legend's mention of his fans as a means to manipulate the situation and he wasn't too happy. "I love you John and I appreciate your thoughts. You bringing up my legacy is a tactic based on fear used to manipulate my free thought," he replied in the exchange.

Later on, Kanye revealed that he tweeted the exchange "to show that there are people around [him] that disagree with [him] and voice their opinion." "I respect everyone's opinion but I stand my ground," he continued. "If you feel something don't let peer pressure manipulate you." Scroll on below to see the debacle unfold in full.
