Stephen Hawking is certainly going to be missed, as per the recent flood of social media messages in honor of the celebrated scientist. After it was announced that the renowned theoretical physicist passed away at the age of 76 at his home in Cambridge late Tuesday night (March 13), musicians, actors, and celebrities from all around have come forth to pay tribute to the late star.
Of course, the most important message of them all arrived in conjunction with the news of his death when his children Lucy, Robert, and Tim issued a statement. "We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today. He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose work and legacy will live on for many years," the statement read. "His courage and persistence with his brilliance and humour inspired people across the world. He once said, 'It would not be much of a universe if it wasn't home to the people you love.' We will miss him forever."
It's also worth noting that Hawking's death also converges with Pi Day as well as what would have been Albert Einstein's 139th birthday. Scroll on below to see how Hollywood is reacting to the sad news of Hawking's passing.

Sad to hear of Stephen Hawking’s passing but extremely grateful for his contributions. He was a first-rate example of what a curious mind can achieve and how it can also inspire. Equally important as his theories. Thank you for everything... -RP pic.twitter.com/vTsEiZLdwb— Nickelback (@Nickelback) March 14, 2018

His passing has left an intellectual vacuum in his wake. But it's not empty. Think of it as a kind of vacuum energy permeating the fabric of spacetime that defies measure. Stephen Hawking, RIP 1942-2018. pic.twitter.com/nAanMySqkt— Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson) March 14, 2018

The world’s most brilliant man, and someone who never stopped wondering ‘Why?’
This hangs on the wall outside his office at Cambridge University.
It says it all.
