Last week, the Chula Vista City Council passed a deal that will allow the University of Saint Katherine to begin building near the eastern part of the city.
The city and the university staff plan to build a 10-acre campus around the Otay Ranch area, near High Tech High, which would have about 1,000 enrolled students, (20,000 in the future), along with nearby housing and dorms for approximately 400 students. There are around 365 total acres set aside for the university to build on.
The University of Saint Katherine, based in San Marcos, CA and formerly known as Saint Katherine College, is an Orthodox Christian university founded in 2010 and accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission. They specialize in liberal arts and sciences.
