After months of waiting, Star Wars fans across the galaxy tuned into Monday Night Football to watch the brand new trailer for the second installment of the latest trilogy. The two-and-half minute trailer is action packed and filled with drama.
The trailer starts off with Supreme Leader Snoke narrating to Kylo Ren. As he speaks you see impressive At-AT walkers, before Kylo and a contingent of troopers enter what is presumably Snokes lair. As Kylo picks up his saber, Snoke tells him he saw "raw, untamed power – and beyond that, something truly special." As he says that, the screen goes black and cuts to Rey igniting a white lightsaber.
Rey is being trained to use the force by Luke Skywalker, who realizes her raw power when she cracks the ground underneath them. The trailer cuts to Luke warning "I've seen this raw strength only once before" while you see images of the attack by Kylo that caused him to exile himself. The scene cuts back to Luke as he acknowledges "it didn't scare me enough then. It does now."
The trailer then cuts to scenes of Kylo Ren piloting a tie-fighter in an attack against his mother's resistance ship as he says "let the past die". Snoke tells him to "kill it, if you have to. It's the only way to become what you were meant to be," as Ren leads an attack that could potentially kill General Leia.
The trailer then eases us into the final reveal with some awesome shots of space battles, an amazing shot of Finn and Phasma engaging in a sword fight, and the obligatory shot of Millennium Falcon piloted by Chewbacca. As the fun ends, Luke yells "This is not going to go the way you think!"setting up the major reveal about to come.
"I need someone to show me my place in all this," Rey says. But, the hand that reaches out to her is not Luke's or Leia's, it is Kylo Ren's!
Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters on December 15th.
