Denise and Sean Torkington of Queensland, Australia thought it was just dew on their lawn. Turns out to be a huge spider web.
Sean originally tried kicking away a few spiders when it first started on their lawn. A few days later, it just got BIGGER.
"This is the thing nightmares are made of."
Denise uploaded a photo of the spider webs to a Facebook page hoping to get some answers. The answers varied from the type of spider they thought it was to how they can kill it. Some even suggested to simply bomb and burn the grass.
One spider expert, Arachnologist Dr Robert Raven, said that the spiders were simply 'ballooning.' It's a process where the spider will climb to the top of grass stems to release silk threads into the air which helps them move between locations.
"The legend is, if a money spider lands on the palm of your hand, you will have money come to it. So they may be a sign of good luck." says Raven.
Hmmm.... I think I'd rather keep my hands clean of spiders.
