Teacher Panhandles On Street to Raise Money for School Supplies

Teresa Danks, a Tulsa, Oklahoma teacher for 21 years decided to spend her off time begging for money to help pay for classroom supplies.

Many teachers across the nation pay for their own classroom supplies to help their students.

"People were just like, 'Oh my gosh, thank you for doing this. Thank you for teaching. Thank you, you know, just thank you, thank you, thank you," Danks said." One person even said, 'It's teachers like you that are the reason I am alive today.'

Danks said she earns $35,000 a year, and often spends around $2,000 or $3,000 on school supplies each year.

A GoFundMe page was created to help Mrs. Danks. She plans to use that money to start a foundation that will help other teachers with classroom supplies.
