Instagram is The Worst Social Media Network for Young People's Mental Health, According to New Report
It appears "FOMO" (fear of missing out) is a major issue for most young people who spend time on Instagram. According to a new study by the Royal Society for Public Health in the U.K., Instagram users who spend more than 2 hours a day on the social network are more likely to suffer from symptoms like depression and anxiety. This is caused by users constantly seeing pictures of their friends doing fun stuff that they're not doing. It's hard NOT to compare yourself when you're constantly seeing these images and videos.
What about the positive?
On the flipside, Instagram helped users in terms of self-expression and self-identity. Online networks like Instagram also offer a form a support from like-minded individuals.
