5th Grader Asks Police for Help with Math Homework

They got the math problem wrong. But it's effort that counts, right?

10-year-old Lena Draper decided to contact the Marion, Ohio, Police Department for help... with her math homework. She went on her local police department's Facebook page and actually got a response! Lt. B.J. Gruber, who also happens to run the Facebook page responded with some help.

Lena asked the officer another question. “Ok now if I had this (90+27) + (29+15) x 2. Which one would I do first?”

“Take the answer from the first parenthesis plus the answer from the second parenthesis and multiply that answer times two,” Lt. B.J. Gruber explained. “Work left to right doing the work inside the parenthesis first.”

The officer gave Lena the wrong process to solve the math problem, but it's the effort that counts, right?
