Review: If you are an art/art history fanatic, you will enjoy learning the untold story of The Monuments Men. When a group of architects, art scholars, museum curators, and just art-loving professionals are recruited during WWII on a special project to save European works of art from being destroyed by war or Hitler, you get a funny bunch that includes George Clooney, Matt Damon, Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, John Goodman, and more. This unlikely war brigade goes on an extensive treasure hunt all over Europe to return masterpieces to their original owners, but it involves risking their lives to go against Nazi regimes.  Based on a true story, I am so glad this story about war is finally being revealed. So many war movies and documentaries have portrayed the fighting upfront, but never have we’ve questioned or seen how beautiful artifacts have survived through all that mass destruction. Because of the Monuments Men, generations will continue to have access to these works of art. After watching this film, I have become more appreciative of the arts.

I give The Monuments Men one thumbs up. Not only is the film educational, but everyone in the cast brings witty laughs as well.
