Review: Making his directorial debut, Jason Bateman plays Guy Trilby, a 40-year-old man who has only one goal in mind: To be the winner of the national spelling bee competition. Along for the ride is a reporter (Kathryn Hahn) who investigates why Guy is so determined to win a contest that is normally meant for children. During the 3-day competition, Guy makes his first friend ever, which turns out to be a 10-year-old boy and fellow competitor who are absolutely adorable. Bad Words is hilarious from beginning to end. Be warned: What you hear and see in this movie is definitely not parentally-approved. But let’s be honest…that’s what makes this film so funny!
I give Bad Words one thumbs up.
