Eva Mendes opened up about life with Ryan Gosling and their children; two daughters, Esmerelda, 4, and Amada, 3.

Mendes revealed in the May 2019 issue of Women's Health that it wasn't in her plans to have kids until she met Ryan Gosling.

“It was the furthest thing from my mind,” “[Then] Ryan Gosling happened. I mean, falling in love with him. Then it made sense for me to have…not kids, but his kids. It was very specific to him.”

The couple originally met in 2011 while filming The Place Beyond The Pines. She also believes that families only work when you have the love and support of an extended family. She revealed that everyone from Ryan's mom, her own mom, sisters, etc. all chip in to help the family out.

Coming from a single-family household, Mendes has a lot of respect for single parents out there who have to raise a family on their own. She shared that her mother, Eva Perez Suarez, had to raise all 4 children by herself. She also shared that her mother used to say, ‘As little as we have, there are so many people who have less.’
