UC Merced alumni Anna Ocegueda, from Orange Cove, California (near Fresno), posted a pic taken by her sister on Twitter with her parents in front of the fruit farm where they worked at for over 25 years.
It's a powerful message for anyone who identifies with her story.
Anna's parents are from Mexico and have 5 children in total. She is the first in her family to graduate from a 4-year university with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a minor in Spanish. Growing up, she took all the advanced level classes she could and kept her eyes on the UC system.
After she graduates, she will be heading to San Francisco to work, most likely in a field that allows her to work with children.
